Following the Seasons through the Church’s Liturgical Year.

A Seaside Forager’s Year is based in Scotland. I weave wild ingredients from Nature’s Larder into my cooking as I follow the seasons through the Church’s Liturgical Year. My life is somewhat nomadic as I travel between the Outer Hebrides, where my husband is an Island GP and the Glens and Seaside of Angus in mainland Scotland. I often write on a ferry inspired by the weather and movement of the waves. I am the author of The Forager’s Kitchen Handbook and Seaweed in the Kitchen, and a former BBC Masterchef finalist. However, I’ve spent most of my life cooking frugally and simply for a family of eight. My grown-up children are competent foragers - they learnt to forage by the absorption method. It works in the same way that rice cooks as it absorbs water. The foraging experience clears muzzy heads – it’s good for the soul too.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.” Psalm 23:2-3
